Welcome to Harwood lodge - Info

Harewood Lodge 5667 was founded in 1937 and now meets at Otley Masonic Hall Westbourne House Otley. Our regular lodge meeting is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month except in December when the main meeting is the third Tuesday.

We do not meet in July and August. Our installation ceremony is held in September.

We hold a monthly business meeting every month in which we discuss and plan the work in the lodge and other administration matters. We hold practice meetings on most of the other Tuesdays at 7pm. On our monthly regular lodge nights we wear lounge suits and enjoy a 3 course meal at what we call “The Festive Board”. On these main lodge nights the brethren are encouraged to invite guests from other lodges. Visiting to other lodges is one of the best ways of expanding friendships which for many freemasons last a life time. As is common practise we have toasts and speeches during and after dinner some following a regular masonic theme whilst some are a little lighter hearted.

Our subs are currently £240.00 which are payable in January in full or in advance by standing order on a monthly basis. Our monthly regular Lodge meal costs £25.00. Charity is important to Freemasons, and as such we do hold raffles on a monthly basis to raise such funds. The funds raised are often used to support local charities and deserving causes. In 2024 we have been able to offer financial support to such organisations as The Army Benevolent Fund and our Neighbour Spring Gardens Care Home in Otley. As Freemasons we can also make donations to our Provincial Grand Lodge Charity Fund according to the individual’s personal circumstances. All donations in the strictest confidence no matter how big or small.

We have a variety of social functions when family and friends are encouraged to join us including weekends away, informal gatherings and our Christmas party.

For Freemasons, four important values help define their path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity and we are at Harewood Lodge are as keen on those principles today as we were 87 years ago.

Our current membership comes from a very broad spectrum of professions, trades and businessmen all bringing something unique to Harewood Lodge whilst enjoying the shared experiences of the other members.

Membership is open to men over 18 from all backgrounds, and we hope those who join Harewood Lodge will be empowered to be the best they can be in their masonic career as well as their home life hopefully becoming better men by building character and helping them make a positive contribution to society. For anyone who may wish to become a Freemason by joining Harewood Lodge the first thing to do would be to contact our secretary [email protected] or on our contact form here

Why Consider Freemasonry?

Are you at a stage in life where you’re looking for something more—a chance to join an organization that truly makes a positive difference? If so, Freemasonry could be exactly what you’re seeking.

Freemasonry is unlike any other group. It unites individuals from all walks of life, regardless of background, gender, or faith. It’s a community of like-minded people, all bound by a common dedication to helping others and living lives filled with purpose and fulfillment.

If you have a genuine desire to contribute, connect, and grow in meaningful ways, take a closer look at what Freemasonry has to offer.

What makes Freemasonry unique among organizations?

When you join Freemasonry, you begin a journey of personal discovery unlike any other. One of the defining aspects of Freemasonry is the “shared experience” of the Initiation Ceremony—a profound moment for many that marks the start of this path.

Every Mason undergoes this experience upon joining, and several similar rites follow throughout the early stages of Masonic membership. Each step reveals something meaningful about yourself, others, and the rich history of Freemasonry—a tradition practiced across the United Kingdom and worldwide.

What can you expect from Freemasonry.

Moral and Ethical Growth – Freemasonry promotes virtues such as honesty, integrity, compassion, and charity. Members work on improving themselves to become better individuals.  Strong Bonds – Freemasonry fosters deep, lifelong friendships among members who share common values.

Support System – Freemasonry emphasises care for one another, offering emotional and practical support during challenging times.
